Simon and Augusta Wright purchased 13 acres of land in Whitewater, Wisconsin in 1857 and built the Wright Residence. The drawing above was done by Henry Rile, Augusta's brother. Seven Wright children were born in the home: Lucretia Amanda Pratt, William Simon Wright, Kate Florence McCracken, Fred H. Wright, Caroline Lovett Wright, Milly Augusta Wright, Ella May Wright.

Simon made stone monuments, many of which can be found in Whitewater's cemeteries. The Wright family rests in the Oak Grove Cemetery. 

The Wright House has had many additions over the years and various owners, so that it has grown in size and character. The home is currently owned and loved by the Nelsons.
